NKA Donates to Ellicot City Disaster – 2018

On August 29, 2018, Nka Ikem Esit Charitable Org, as a corporate Citizen , responded to the Ellicott City disaster relief appeal fund to help restore the community back by making a token donation to the Ellicott City Partnership. This Organization, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve the heritage and vitality of historic Ellicott City, Maryland while enhancing and creating economic growth. Donation was received by one of the Organization’s Board Member , Ms. Kelly Zimmerman who was so appreciative of Nka Ikem Esit’s continued support and wished the Organization well . She explained that she was also a resident of Ellicott City and her Community was affected by the devastation.

This flooding was the second in just 22 months after the last disaster , with heavy torrential rain. The heavy rainfall, between 6 and 12 inches in the heaviest band, caused catastrophic damage, especially in Historic Ellicott City. Many buildings were damaged and dozens of vehicles experienced flood damage. A majority of the roads were washed out and land erosion and localized landslides were reported as destroyed. Hundreds of residents were displayed and once more the people had to relive the tragic and terrifying event.

Nka Ikem Esit Charitable Organization without hesitation responded to the appeal for help which was warmly received in gratitude by the Ellicott City Partnership, Inc.
